Police in Worcester, Massachusetts, have arrested a man accused of attempting to steal from a police cruiser Saturday evening.

On Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m., two police officers working as partners exited their cruiser to patrol the Worcester City Common on foot.

While patrolling they noticed a man standing next to the passenger side of their cruiser. Police say the man leaned into the cruiser through the open window, stood up to see if anyone noticed him, and then leaned back into the cruiser.

Officers detained the man and discovered a duffel bag containing equipment had been tampered with.

Officers noticed a GPS device was moved from the pouch it was originally contained in and say the suspect attempted to steal the that device.

The suspect, John Mahon, 52, of Worcester, was placed under arrest and was arraigned Monday morning at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
