Man Accused of Convenience Store Robberies in Police Custody

A Massachusetts man believed to have been involved in convenience store robberies is in police custody after taking police in Malden on a chase Tuesday afternoon.

Thirty-five-year-old Andrew Belliveau will be arraigned on charges in connection with a robbery in Malden and possibly other robberies Wednesday morning in Malden District Court.

Just after 1 p.m. Tuesday, anti-crime officers from Malden were staking out local convenience stores after a series of robberies in the area.

Malden Police Det. Capt. Marc Gatcomb says police officers watched as a masked man fled out of a store, and chased him.

The chase ended at a Walgreens store less than a mile away when there was a small crash between a police cruiser and the suspect's black Hyundai.

There were no injuries, and Belliveau was taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
