A man accused of dragging two Boston Police officers and striking two others with his vehicle earlier this week was ordered to be held on a high bail Friday in addition to being held without bail pending a hearing whether he violated probation terms in a unrelated case.
Thirty-four-year-old Vincent Weaks of Roxbury was ordered by a judge to be held on $75,000 bail and to wear a GPS monitor and abide by a curfew during his arraignment on four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Police say officers responded to a vehicle on Stoughton Street in the Upham's Corner section of Boston's Dorchester neighborhood around 12:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a person with a gun.
Police said Weaks hit the gas when he was asked to get out of the car and dragged two officers down the street. The car also struck two officers, causing them to fall to the ground.
Weaks allegedly sped away, but officers arrested him later at a house he shares with his girlfriend.
Weaks' attorney said in court that his client denies the allegations and says it is a case of mistaken identity. Weaks' mother and sister said the same outside of court.
Weaks does have a prior record, including drug and assault and battery charge. He's due back in court on Dec. 19.
