A New Hampshire resident made a gruesome discovery, finding a neighbor's dead dog in a pool of blood in a dumpster.

Police officers were called to the horrific scene on Oct. 20, but this disturbing case is just coming to light now since a Rockingham County grand jury recently indicted the dog owner's brother.

The 10-year-old Husky, named Lexi, became a part of Josh Bosse's family when they adopted her three years ago.

"She was a good dog," Bosse told NBC10 Boston during an interview Wednesday. "We would take her to the dog park and she'd be more interested in pats from everybody as opposed to other animals."

She was loveable and curious. Josh says he would often find her exploring the neighborhood, so when his brother told him Lexi had taken off one night in October, he wasn't surprised.

"I figured she'd be back in 20 minutes, but she never came back, so in the morning, I went looking for her and couldn't find her," he said.

But his neighbor did, and it was like something out of a horror movie.

"Just a puddle of blood in front of the dumpster,” Bosse explained.

Derry Police say Lexi's throat was slashed and she was thrown away like a piece of trash.

"I was in shock, I didn't know what to think," Bosse said.

What's worse is that his own brother, Gerard Bosse, is now charged with felony animal cruelty for allegedly using a knife to kill Lexi and then leaving her body in the dumpster.

    "Very heartbreaking," Josh Bosse said.

He tells us his brother was living with him at the time, but after this, he kicked him out and they haven't spoken since.

"If I would've thought this kind of thing would've happened, I wouldn't have invited him into my house, especially around my kids," Bosse said.

Court documents say Gerard Bosse confessed to the crime and turned over the knife and some bloody clothes.

While the case makes it through the justice system, Josh Bosse is trying to figure out what could've motivated his brother to mutilate their beloved Lexi.

"It kind of sends you for a loop," he said.
