A Massachusetts man faced a judge this week on charges that he seriously injured 3-month-old daughter after shaking her.
Anthony Mansolilli, 30, of Lowell was ordered to be held on $25,000 cash bail during his arraignment on one count of assault and battery of a child causing substantial bodily injury.
Police say they started their investigation on Sunday evening after responding to a report of an unresponsive infant. Responding officers observed a pale and unresponsive 3-month-old girl being held by her grandmother, and said Mansolilli was also there.
The child was taken to Lowell General Hospital, where a CT scan showed she had subdural hemorrhaging. Another CT scan at Tufts Medical Center in Boston confirmed the results.
Investigators say they spoke with Mansolilli on Monday, when he allegedly confessed to shaking the baby after she wouldn't stop crying.
The baby remains hospitalized. Prosecutors say she had seizure activity, and that it will be hard to determine the full extent of injury to her brain until she reaches developmental milestones.
Mansolilli was also ordered to stay away from his daughter and other children under the age of 16.

His next court date is Dec. 7. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
