Maine State Police have charged a Waterboro man with possessing thousands of child pornography images following an arrest on Friday, officials say.
Edward Vallee, 41, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of sexually explicit material of an individual under the age of 12. The arrest was conducted by the department's computer crimes unit.
Vallee, a self-employed mason, was arrested at his home at 71 Medowbrook Drive, police say. Investigators first pinpointed Vallee after receiving a tip.
Investigators say an initial review of Vallee's computer revealed thousands of child porn images. A complex investigation into the matter is currently underway.
Officials say none of the photos appear to be children from Maine.
Vallee was taken to the York County Jail and his first court appearance is set for September 23.
