Man Arrested For Embezzling Over $500K

Timothy Roche allegedly embezzled $527,934

Rhode Island State Police arrested a Portsmouth, New Hampshire, man on Friday for embezzling over $500,000 from the Newport Bay Club and Hotel.

Timothy F. Roche, 54, was arrested and charged with embezzlement. Police say Roche allegedly embezzled $527,934 from the club's Homeowners Association.

Upon thorough investigation, authorities learned that Roche had issued 34 unauthorized checks for his personal benefit between 2008 and 2013. Roche is the former general manager of the association.

Roche was released on $1,000 personal recognizance. He could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. He'll appear in court of October 23 for a pre-trial hearing.
