Man Arrested for Leaving Infant Unattended

Police in Dover, New Hampshire, charged 34-year-old Jeffrey Walter with endangering the welfare of a child and other charges after they said he left his 4-month-old child alone and drove his car at a relative.

A man was arrested Sunday for leaving his 4-month-old child unattended in Dover, New Hampshire.

Police say 34-year-old Jeffrey Walter left the infant in an apartment. When officers were trying to find him, they say, he returned to the apartment complex and intentionally drove at a female relative.

Walter fled when he saw police, who chased him on foot. He was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, reckless conduct, resisting arrest and driving with an open container.

Neither the child nor the other relative was injured.

A probable cause hearing has been scheduled in Dover District Court for Oct. 31.
