Man Bitten by Boa Constrictor on Cape Cod

A man was bitten by a snake more than seven feet long on Cape Cod Monday evening.

Fire officials in Barnstable, Massachusetts, say a 20-year-old man was walking through the woods near Hiramar Road in Hyannis when he encountered a 7-8-foot boa constrictor.

According to officials, the man wanted to keep the snake, so he tried to pick it up. The reptile, which was eating at the time, bit him.

The snake left its teeth in the man, who was treated and released from Cape Cod Hospital.

Authorities are not sure how the snake ended up in the woods, but they believe it may be a pet that escaped or was abandoned.
