Man Charged in String of Vehicle Vandalism

Adriel Serrano, 23, is charged with seven counts of vandalism of property and one count of disorderly conduct

A Marlborough, Massachusetts, man is facing numerous charges after he allegedly swung a piece of wood at passing vehicles early Tuesday morning, causing serious damage to seven of them.

Adriel Serrano, 23, is charged with seven counts of vandalism of property and one count of disorderly conduct. Marlborough police said he was reportedly swinging a piece of wood at oncoming traffic on Lincoln Street. Multiple witnesses called police to report his behavior, and some reported that their vehicles were damaged.

Officers on the midnight shift encountered Serrano and found him in possession of a 3-foot piece of wood, according to the MetroWest Daily News. He reportedly admiitted to having an "interaction" with a motorist.

The description provided by multiple victims matched Serrano's description, so he was placed under arrest.

During the booking process, police said other victims reported that their vehicles were damaged, including one parked in the police station parking lot. Surveillance cameras from the police department were used to identify Serrano and charge him with that vandalism as well.

Police said they are still checking businesses along the route where Serrano was seen for additional video surveillance. They said they don't have a motive and it appears that Serrano chose his victims at random.
