Police say a Vermont man has been charged with abandoning a 9-month-old baby.
The Rutland Herald reports 32-year-old Jamek Hart, of Rutland, pleaded innocent in court Tuesday to a felony charge of abandonment and endangerment of a child under the age of 2, and other offenses.
Police say the baby's mother called them on Monday night saying that Hart was chasing her in his car and had left their son alone in the home.
Police arrived at the scene and found the mother and Hart in their respective vehicles. Hart was arrested.
Police say Hart left the boy alone in his crib and it appears he had no intention of returning. The baby was not harmed.
Hart's lawyer did not comment specifically on the charges.
