Man Charged With Assault, Animal Cruelty After Stabbing Man and Dog in Tewksbury

A Massachusetts man is facing assault and battery and animal cruelty charges after he allegedly stabbed another man and his dog in Tewksbury.

Anthony Puliafico, 54, of Tewksbury, was held on $25,000 bail following his arraignment Wednesday at Lowell District Court.

Police said Puliafico was taken into custody Thursday afternoon when officers responded to the Ames Hill apartment complex for a report of a man who had been stabbed.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Through an investigation, police learned there had been an altercation between Puliafico's dog and the victim's dog which led to both the victim and the victim's dog being stabbed.

The condition of the dog is unclear.

It's unclear if Puliafico has an attorney or when he's due back in court.
