Court officials say a Lewiston, Maine, man charged with running down and killing his pregnant girlfriend is set to be arraigned in an Auburn court.
Evaristo De Deus is scheduled to appear at Androscoggin County Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. He is charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Laudrinha Kubeloso, who was four months pregnant when she was struck and killed by an SUV. De Deus later tried to flee to Haiti.
Justice MaryGay Kennedy is set to hear the case. De Deus's attorney says his client will enter a plea of not guilty.
De Deus and Kubeloso were recent asylum seekers from Angola. A judge ordered De Deus held without bail during a brief appearance in the same court on Sept. 26.
