Man Charged With Murder in Deadly Roxbury Shooting

Ira Harrison, 26, of Boston, is accused of shooting and killing 29-year-old Christian Rivera in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood on July 7.

A man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of another man in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood.

Police confirm 26-year-old Ira Harrison of Boston was arrested Wednesday. He is accused of shooting and killing 29-year-old Christian Rivera of Dorchester on Homestead Street on July 7.

Rivera was found on the sidewalk when police arrived at the scene. He was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

"The Homicide detectives did a tremendous job investigating this case and making an arrest less than two weeks after the incident," Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said in a statement. "The detectives of the BPD Homicide Unit continue to work day-in and day-out in hopes of bringing justice for this victim and all victims of homicde and their families."

In addition to the murder charge, Rivera faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
