Man Charged With Robbing Pharmacy

Robert Richard was taken into custody Thursday on a warrant issued after he was indicted Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Portland on a charge of interference with commerce by robbery

A Gardiner, Maine, man has been charged with robbing a Bridgton pharmacy last year.

Robert Richard was taken into custody Thursday on a warrant issued after he was indicted Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Portland on a charge of interference with commerce by robbery.

The 26-year-old Richard pleaded not guilty in a court appearance before Magistrate Judge John Rich III. The defendant was ordered detained while the case is pending.

Authorities say Richard held up a Rite Aid store in Bridgton on Nov. 28.

The indictment says Richard threatened violence to an employee before making off with prescription painkillers.

Richard faces up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
