Man Charged With Shooting Son-in-Law in the Face

A Rhode Island man is facing charges after police say he shot his son-in-law in the face.

Police responded to a home in Pawtucket on Saturday morning for a reported shooting.

Pawtucket police Maj. Tina Goncalves says 59-year-old Joao Andrade barricaded himself in the home's basement. He surrendered to police after about 20 minutes. Police recovered a firearm from the basement.

The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was treated and released. Police haven't released his name.

Andrade is charged with assault with intent to commit murder, firing in a compact area, failure to have a permit or license for a firearm and domestic disorderly conduct.

Online court records didn't list a lawyer for Andrade.
