Man Charged in 2015 Armed Store Robbery

A Vermont man has been charged with the armed robbery of a Fair Haven convenience store last fall.

The U.S. attorney's office for the district of Vermont said Monday that 26-year-old Matthew Hinton of Orwell has been indicted by a federal grand jury. He's charged with holding up the Maplefields convenience store on Sept. 30, 2015.

Hinton was previously charged with being felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm to which he had pleaded not guilty.

He is currently in state custody on unrelated charges. It was unclear if he was being represented by an attorney.

Hinton is scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 21.
