Man Charged in Providence Crime Spree Held Without Bail

A 28-year-old man accused of killing one person and holding another hostage in Providence has been ordered held without bail.

Police arrested Nathan Spardello on Tuesday after he allegedly held a man hostage in an apartment in the city's Federal Hill neighborhood during a four-hour standoff with officers.

Spardello was wanted in the earlier fatal stabbing of 35-year-old Luis Carrillo on Russo Street.

He's also charged with attacking his wife and other family members on Monday.

Spardello was arraigned on Wednesday on a spate of charges, including murder.
