Man Charged with Drinking, Texting While Driving After Crashing Into Telephone Pole

He suffered a minor ankle injury in the crash

A New Hampshire man is facing charges after police say he crashed into a telephone pole Sunday night while using his cell phone to text while he was also driving drunk.

Justin Golomb, 25, of 31 Lancelot Shores, Farmington, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and also issued a summons for prohibited text messages and device usage while operating a motor vehicle. He suffered a minor ankle injury in the crash.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Meaderboro and Four Rod roads in Rochester around 11:52 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a single motor vehicle into a telephone pole.

Rochester Police said Golomb's vehicle left the road and struck a telephone pole while he was using his cell phone to text. The pole sustained minor damage, but a telephone line and cable line on the pole were damaged, causing lines leading to a nearby home to drop to the ground. Golomb's vehicle sustained heavy front end damage in the crash and had to be towed from the scene.

Golomb is scheduled to appear in Rochester District Court on Dec. 1.
