Authorities say a Swansea, Massachusetts, man has been sentenced to 20 to 25 years in state prison after a jury convicted him of sexually assaulting a relative over 10 years beginning when she was only 5 years old.
A Fall River jury convicted 34-year-old Christopher Rochon on Wednesday of charges including statutory rape aggravated by age difference and rape of a child with force.
Prosecutors had asked that Rochon be sentenced to 25 to 30 years in prison while the defense asked that he receive a 10-year term.
Rochon was also sentenced to 35 years of supervised probation. He must register as a sex offender and cannot have contact with children.
