A man is in critical condition following a fire in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Tuesday night, fire officials say.
Officials say the fire at 1253 Islington St. broke out around 7:30 p.m. and flames could be seen upon arrival.
Crews went inside and rescued the man, who has not been identified. He was brought to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A firefighter was transported to a hospital for heat exhaustion, but was later released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The extent of the damage is unknown.
