A man is dead after he was hit by a commuter rail train Sunday afternoon in Cambridge.
MBTA Transit Police say that they responded to the scene after reports of the man being hit at around 12:15 p.m. near Brighton Street. An early investigation showed that the man was likely trespassing on the tracks when he was hit by an inbound Fitchburg Line MBTA commuter train.
Officials say that the victim, who appears to be about 60, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Transit police detectives and the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office are investigating the matter, but foul play is not suspected.
