1 Man Dead From Rollover Crash in Freetown

The driver of the vehicle, a 34-year-old woman, also suffered serious injuries, police said

One man is dead and a woman was seriously injured after a car they were travelling in rolled over on Route 24 in Freetown on Sunday, authorities said.

A 13-year-old girl who was also in the car was taken to the hospital with no visible injuries, according to Massachusetts State Police.

State troopers responded to the crash around 5 p.m. on Sunday, where they found a 2003 Ford Escape had gone off the right side of the highway and rolled over, ejecting the two adults from the car, police said.

One passenger, a 34-year-old man from Wareham, was pronounced deceased from his injuries at the scene of the crash, Massachusetts State Police said in a statement on Sunday. The driver, a 34-year-old Taunton woman, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

Her status is not known.

The identity of the man will be released tomorrow after notifications are made.

The right travel lane near the 12.4 mile-marker on Route 24 was closed as investigators reconstructed the crash.

Police have not released any information about the cause of the car to go off the road.
