A northern Vermont man has denied accusations that he sexually assaulted an underage girl at a drinking party last fall in Caledonia County.
The Caledonian Record reports 20-year-old Caleb Messier pleaded not guilty in Caledonia Superior Court to charges of felony sexual assault on a victim under 16 and misdemeanor furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Hardwick Police Det. Kevin Lehoe says the girl had consensual sex with Messier in his bedroom during a party on Sept. 25 at a home on Tousant Hill Road in Stannard.
Police say the girl also consented to sex with a 23-year-old man at the party. He is still wanted and has a warrant issued for his arrest on similar assault charges.
Both men face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
