Man Died After Early Morning Hit-and-Run in Somerville, Police Say

A man died of wounds sustained in a hit-and-run in Somerville this weekend, police said Wednesday.

He was identified as 68-year-old Kevin Demont, who is believed to be homeless, according to the Massachusetts State Police. Their investigation is ongoing.

Demont was hit by a vehicle about 3 a.m. Sunday morning on Mystic Avenue and Shore Drive. He was believed to have been in a marked crosswalk, police said in a statement.

Seriously injured, Demont was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, but he died Monday, according to police.
