Man Dies in SUV Rollover Crash

Marc Swain suffered major head trauma and was taken to the hospital by a helicopter.

Authorities say a Maine man has died after his SUV rolled off the road and crashed into some trees.

Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols says 20-year-old Marc Swain, of Canaan, was driving his Ford Explorer south toward Route 27 in Kibby Township Sunday afternoon when he lost control and his car rolled over, causing Swain to hit his head.

Swain suffered major head trauma and was taken to the hospital by a helicopter. Nichols says he died en route.

A passenger, 19-year-old Corey Moorehead, of Mercer, was treated at the scene and released.

Nichols says it appeared Swain was driving at an unsafe speed for the condition of the dirt road and the unsafe condition of the vehicle.

He says that speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash.
