A Massachusetts man faced a judge Monday on charges in connection with a crash in Weymouth over the weekend that critically injured a young boy.
Florian Roshi, 34, was ordered to be held on $5,000 cash bail during his arraignment on multiple charges, including operating under the influence of drugs and child endangerment, in Quincy District Court following the Saturday night crash on Route 3 that sent a 3-year-old boy to a local hospital.
Police say they responded to the scene on Route 3 in Weymouth around 10 p.m., where they found a Ford F-250 pickup had swiped a guardrail before swerving back into traffic.
As a result of the crash, an unrestrained 3-year-old boy was ejected from Roshi's truck. The child was taken to Boston Children's Hospital, where his condition was unchanged as of Sunday night.
Roshi initially told investigators that the 3-year-old boy had rolled down the pickup truck's window, according to court documents.
An 8-year-old boy, who was not injured but in the pickup truck at the time of the incident, was taken to South Shore Hospital and then released into his grandfather's custody. Police have not released Roshi's relationship to the children.
It's unclear if Roshi has an attorney.
