A Maine judge has sentenced a New York City man to 42 years in prison for shooting his married girlfriend and leaving her body in an SUV in a motel parking lot in Portland.
Twenty-one-year-old Anthony Pratt Jr. was convicted of murder last month. The body of 29-year-old Margarita Fisenko Scott was found in January 2013.
Prosecutors say Pratt shot Scott because he was angry that she was returning to her husband.
Defense contended during the trial that DNA evidence pointed to someone other than Pratt. His DNA was found on chewing gum used to plug a bullet hole in an apartment but not on the murder weapon.
The sentencing took place at the Cumberland County Superior Court on Wednesday morning.
