Man Gets Life for Killing Mother of 3

A Providence, Rhode Island, man convicted of strangling a mother of three who was working as an escort has been sentenced to life in prison.

Daniel Tejeda on Thursday also received a consecutive sentence of 25 years behind bars for being a habitual offender from a judge who called the killing "one of the most disturbing and inexplicable and violent homicides" he'd seen.

Tejeda was convicted in April of first-degree murder for killing 24-year-old Ashley Masi in March 2015 after arranging to meet her at her apartment through an online classified ad.

Prosecutors say Tejeda's DNA was found on a zip tie around Masi's neck.

The 29-year-old Tejada, a Marine reservist, had a criminal record that included bank robbery, identity fraud and drug possession.
