A Canadian man is being held without bail after his arraignment on charges that he and another man killed two Nashua, New Hampshire, women 27 years ago.
Police say 48-year-old Anthony Barnaby and 54-year-old David Caplin stabbed Brenda Warner and Charlene Ranstrom to death in October 1988 in their Nashua apartment.
Three juries failed to convict or acquit Barnaby, the last time in 1990. First-degree murder charges against Caplin were dropped after courts threw out much of the evidence. Both men returned to Canada.
They were ordered extradited last month after police said new DNA evidence and witnesses justify another trial.
Barnaby returned to Nashua Tuesday. He was represented by the public defender at arraignment Wednesday. The public defender did not return a call seeking comment.
Caplin is also jailed without bail.
