Man Honored for Turning in Bag of Cash

Charles Laurin found a bag containing $2,700 in the middle of a street

A Middletown, Rhode Island, man has been honored for turning in a bank deposit bag full of cash he found lying in the middle of the street.

The Newport Daily News reports that Charles Laurin was recognized by the Middletown Police Department for his honesty and integrity.

Police said Tuesday Laurin found the green bag containing $2,700 in the middle of the street on April 30.

Laurin brought it in to the police station.

The owner later called police. He told them he had put it on the top of his car, forgot about it and drove off.
