Man Hospitalized After Getting Hit by MBTA Bus

A Massachusetts man is in the hospital after getting hit by an MBTA bus.

According to Transit Police, an operator for the Route 110 MBTA bus was pulling away from a stop near Elm Street and Jefferson Avenue in Everett at the time of the incident.

Multiple witnesses saw a 58 year old man running towards the stop as the bus was pulling away. After running off the sidewalk and into the street, the man started to hit the back of the bus attempting to get the driver’s attention.

Doing so, the man lost his balance and fell onto the street and partially underneath the bus, transit police say. The bus made contact with the man’s leg and he was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment.

The injuries are not considered life threatening.

Transit Police’s preliminary investigation suggested the bus driver’s actions did not contribute to the accident.
