Man Indicted in May Fatal Stabbing

A Providence, Rhode Island, man has been indicted on a murder charge in the fatal stabbing of a Newport man during the Memorial Day weekend.

Fifty-two-year-old Araya Brinkley also is charged with murder and possession of a knife with a blade more than three inches long while in the commission of a crime of violence.

He was arrested shortly after the killing of 41-year-old Troy Henderson outside a convenience store at about 2 a.m. May 23.

Brinkley has been held without bail and is to be arraigned Aug. 26. It is not immediately clear who represents him.

The Providence Journal reports police said the two men argued in the store's checkout line and the dispute continue outside. Henderson died at hospital from multiple stab wounds.
