Man Indicted on Charges of Second Assault at Belle Isle Marsh Reservation

A man convicted of assaulting a 67-year-old man in a Boston park in 2016 has been charged with an earlier assault at the same location that claimed the life of an 83-year-old East Boston resident.

Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced Tuesday that 52-year-old Michael Bruzzese has been indicted on charges of manslaughter and unarmed robbery of a person over 60 in the connection with the May 29, 2016 assault on Daniel Pepe.

Pepe died three days later from blunt force injuries to the head. He was found beaten, on a bench, at the Belle Isle Marsh Reservation.

Bruzzese had pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 18 months in prison for assaulting a 67-year-old Lynn man on June 1, 2016.

It's unclear if he has an attorney.
