Prosecutors say the suspect in a Massachusetts shooting that left one man dead and another injured was angry that one of the victims had been hitting on his ex-girlfriend.

Authorities say 24-year-old Renardo Williams fired 11 shots Saturday night in Brockton, killing 26-year-old Bethgy Cator and sending the other man to the hospital with five gunshot wounds.

The Enterprise reports the surviving victim told investigators Williams thought Cator had been hitting on his ex-girlfriend.

Williams was held without bail Thursday after pleading not guilty to charges including murder.

Some Leavenworth County, Kansas, officials are calling for Commissioner Louis Klemp's resignation after he insulted a black woman who had just presented a land-use study to the commission. "I don't want you to think I am picking on you because we are part of the master race. You have a gap in your teeth. We are part of the master race, don't you forget that," Klemp said.

He and his current girlfriend were arrested on Interstate 84 in Sturbridge on Wednesday night after state police noticed their vehicle.

She has been charged as an accessory.

William's court-appointed attorney kept his client out of view over concerns about identification issues.
