One man has died after allegedly crashing his motorcycle in Springfield.
State police responded to a motorcycle crash on the ramp from Route 90 Eastbound to Exit 4 in West Springfield, Massachusetts at about 5:40 p.m. on Saturday.
According to police, the crash resulted in the death of the driver.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Jay Rines, 53, of Leverett man was traveling on the Exit 4 ramp from Route 90 Eastbound on a 2014 Yamaha XVS950 motorcycle when, for reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control of the motorcycle and crashed off the left side of the roadway, striking a sign pole, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
State Police were assisted on scene by West Springfield Fire and EMS, Chicopee Fire and MassDOT.
