    Suspect Who Shot Boston Officer Had Long Rap Sheet

    The 36-year-old suspect had just been released from jail when he allegedly shot a Boston police officer.

    Kasim Kahrim, the 36-year-old man killed in a shootout with Boston police after he allegedly shot an officer during a traffic stop in Roxbury Friday morning, had a long criminal history that resulted in his spending nearly 10 years behind bars off and on between 2000 and December 2018.

    The convictions include carjacking a man in Boston with a screwdriver in 2000, which earned him two and a half years in a Suffolk County jail.

    In 2009, he was convicted of stalking and beating his girlfriend over several months, threatening her family, and slashing her tires. He was sentenced to three to four and a half years in Cedar Junction prison.

    The latest convictions were for illegal possession of firearms. He was sentenced to another two and a half years in prison.

    A Boston police officer is recovering after being shot while on a traffic stop.

    After being released on Dec. 7, 2018, Boston police said he got into a shoot-out with officers during a routine traffic stop Friday morning.

    The officer wounded in the shooting is expected to recover, Boston police said.
