Thetford Animal Control Officer Stu Rogers says the 150-pound bear broke into several chicken coops in town over the past several weeks and killed more than 40 chickens.

Ben Kilham, who studies bear activity, says the 5-year-old bear, Clarkie, was the mother of two cubs and was one of nearly a dozen bears he has been studying.
