Man Ordered Held Without Bail in Fatal Mattapan Stabbing

Kenton Thomas was charged with the murder of 58-year-old Jocelin Nordeus, who died of stab wounds on June 1

A Massachusetts man was ordered held without bail on Friday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood in June.

Kenton Thomas, 32, was charged with murder in Dorchester Municipal Court, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.

The judge in the case ordered Thomas to be held without bail at the request of the district attorney's homicide unit.

Authorities said Boston Police responded to a call June 1 for a person stabbed in the area of 535 River St. at approximately 2:50 a.m. where they found 58-year-old Jocelin Nordeus suffering from stab wounds. Nordeus was taken to Boston Medical Center where he later died.

After obtaining security camera footage, phone records and witness statements, authorities said they were able to identify Thomas in connection with the stabbing.

The motive for the stabbing is unclear.

Thomas, who is represented by attorney Kelli Porges, is due back in court Aug. 16.
