Man to Plead Guilty to Assaulting Infant Son

Jose Orta-Santana initially planned to plead not guilty by way of insanity to 20 counts of first-degree assault for the alleged attack on his son

A southern New Hampshire man accused of breaking 17 bones in his infant son's body has changed his mind and will now plead guilty to the assault.

Jose Orta-Santana initially planned to plead not guilty by way of insanity to 20 counts of first-degree assault for the alleged attack on his son.

The Portsmouth Herald reports
his attorney Amy Beaton filed an intent to change her client's plea on Friday.

Police were notified in March after Boston Children's Hospital treated the child for two skull fractures and multiple broken bones.

Court documents say the Newmarket resident first lied to police about his son's injuries before admitting to punching and throwing the child after becoming frustrated with his crying.
