Man Pleads Not Guilty to Drug Charges, Assault

Patrick Mullinnex of Newport allegedly told police last month he travels to Connecticut and Massachusetts to bring between two and three "stacks" of heroin

A Vermont man who allegedly told police he was the top heroin distributor in the region has pleaded not guilty to three drug charges and to a charge of assaulting a police officer.

The Caledonian Record reports 30-year-old Patrick Mullinnex of Newport allegedly told police last month he travels to Connecticut and Massachusetts to bring between two and three "stacks" of heroin into the area. A stack is about 100 bags. He gave police information about out-of-state and local suppliers.

Police say he kicked an officer as they attempted to handcuff him.

Mullinnex was being held on $30,000 bail. It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.
