A Rhode Island man has been shot and killed outside a halfway house in Pawtucket.

The Providence Journal reports 37-year-old Napoleon Andrade was killed at around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police didn't identify the victim but the newspaper says Jay Chattelle, Pawtucket's poet laureate, was among those who identified him. Chattelle said the two had grown up together and that Andrade had two children.

Andrade pleaded guilty to drug trafficking, money laundering and other federal crimes in 2011. He was sentenced to 10 years, and was also later implicated in a 2010 home invasion and robbery in Stamford, Connecticut. That home was owned by a 78-year-old associate of New York's Gambino crime family.
