Police: Gang Member Shot, Killed

Police said the victim, whose name is not yet released, was not a resident of Burlington

A New York man who was reportedly known to police as a member of the Cashford Crips gang was shot and killed outside of a Burlington, Vermont, nightclub early Saturday morning.

Witnesses told police that Odafemi Adedapo, 28, was shot multiple times following a dispute with a man at the Zen Lounge on Church Street. Officers arrived within a minute of receiving the call and performed CPR when they could not find Adedapo’s pulse, but he never regained consciousness. He was later declared dead at the University of Vermont Medical Center.

Police said Adedapo had twenty prior arrests in New York City, a dozen of which were felonies. Those arrests included two for robbery, three for criminal possession of a loaded firearm, two for assault and seven arrests for the criminal violation of a restraining order. He was arrested in Pennsylvania on kidnapping and aggravated assault charges in 2007.

Police said that on Adedapo was also shot in New York City last September, by a group of attackers who remain at large.
