Man Sold Drugs to DEA Agent While Out on Bail

Wilson Garcia pleaded guilty Wednesday to five counts of heroin distribution, one count of distributing fentanyl and other related charges

A Providence, Rhode Island, man has pleaded guilty to federal charges that he sold heroin and fentanyl to undercover agents on multiple occasions while awaiting trial on drug charges in Massachusetts.

Wilson Garcia pleaded guilty Wednesday to five counts of heroin distribution, one count of distributing fentanyl and other related charges.

Prosecutors say an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agent purchased a total of 20.7 grams of heroin and 2.1 grams of fentanyl from the 33-year-old Garcia between December 2014 and September 2015.

The agent met Garcia for deliveries at Twin River Casino in Lincoln six times and once at his Providence home. Garcia was out on bail and awaiting trial in Wrentham, Massachusetts, on heroin trafficking charges when the sales were made.

Garcia will be sentenced on Aug. 23.
