Man Stabbed at Baby Shower in Worcester, Massachusetts

The incident was first reported by hospital personnel who were treating the victim

Police are investigating a stabbing that reportedly occurred at a baby shower in Worcester, Massachusetts, over the weekend.

Worcester Police said they received a call around 1:20 a.m. Sunday from UMass Memorial Hospital emergency room personnel reporting that a stabbing victim had just entered their facility.

Upon arrival, officers met with hospital staff, and were informed that a 29-year-old Worcester man came to the emergency room suffering from a stab wound to the upper torso. He was transported to the hospital by a friend.

The victim, who was conscious and alert, told police very little, as he was in the process of being transported to another hospital. He was held overnight for observation, but his injuries were not life threatening.

But the victim's friend told police that he was at a baby shower at the Crown Castle Hall at 91 Stafford St. when at some point in the evening he was approached by the victim, who told him he had just been stabbed and needed to go to the hospital. The friend said he did not know there had been a fight and didn't know how or when the stabbing occurred.

Police went to the hall, but were unable to locate a crime scene.
