Man Stabbed to Death in Ludlow, Mass.

A man was stabbed to death Friday evening in Ludlow, Massachusetts, according to police.

Franklin Conza, 47, of Springfield, is charged with murdering Carlos Santos, 70, of Ludlow at 270 East Street, which is the address of the Ludlow Bakery. Santos was the co-owner of the bakery.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 6:49 p.m. and found a bystander restraining Conza, who then fought the officers attempting to take him into custody.

Santos was found with multiple stab wounds and was immediately transported to Baystate Medical Center by the Ludlow Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead.

Conza will be arraigned in Palmer District Court on Monday morning.

It is not clear if he has an attorney.

This is an open and on-going homicide investigation being conducted by the Ludlow Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office Murder Unit.
