Man Faces Judge After Threatening to ‘Shoot Up' School

A Massachusetts man accused of saying he would "shoot up" an elementary school faced a judge Friday.

Robert McDaniel, 36, of Lowell, was arraigned in Lowell District Court on the charge of willfully communicating a threat toward a school that caused evacuations and/or serious public alarm.

McDaniel is accused of threatening to "shoot up" Pawtucket Memorial School online on Thursday. Although school was out for vacation week, the building was still evacuated because there were still students attending a program and faculty members inside.

The judge ordered McDaniel to be held pending a dangerousness hearing and a mental health evaluation.

McDaniel's next court appearance is set for May 11. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
