Man Under 21 Suspected of DUI After Crash Into House

Vermont State Police are investigating after a man under 21 suspected of DUI crashed a car into a home in Bristol.

Police say they attempted to stop the vehicle on Hewitt Road in Bristol just after midnight on Saturday, but the motorist accelerated and lost control of the car.

Edward Lafayette, 20, crashed the car into a residence at 574 Vermont Route 116 south, causing about $5,000 in damage.

Lafayette was transported to Fletcher Allen Hospital. When he refused a Breathalyzer test, he was charged with suspicion of DUI, excessive speed, and negligent operation of a vehicle.
