Man Who Took Photos of Sexual Abuse of Girl Gets 35-Year Sentence

A Massachusetts man who took photos of himself sexually abusing a young girl and then traded them online has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

The Republican newspaper reports that 28-year-old Justin Germaine, of West Springfield, was also sentenced in federal court this month to 20 years of probation and was ordered to pay $5 million in restitution.

He pleaded guilty to 19 charges, including distribution of child pornography, receipt of child pornography and sexual exploitation of children.

Prosecutors say Germaine had been trading child porn, including photos of himself sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl, with a New Hampshire man who was being investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Investigators say he used images of the girl as a commodity to engage other child pornographers.
