A 28-year-old Woonsocket, Rhode Island, man has admitted to shooting a man who confronted him about dating his girlfriend while he was away serving time in prison.
Lorenzo Hicks-Hinson pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony assault and numerous gun charges stemming from the March 25 shooting at his Providence County home.
Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office says Hicks-Hinson allegedly had a relationship with David Harmon's girlfriend while he was incarcerated.
Prosecutors say Harmon confronted Hicks-Hinson on the day of his release and the conversation "became heated." Hicks-Hinson then shot Harmon twice in the abdomen with a .44-caliber magnum.
Harmon was treated at Landmark Medical Center for gunshot wounds that were deemed to be serious.
Police arrested Hicks-Hinson and recovered a gun with the serial number scratched off in a bag in his basement.
